How Our Pricing Works

Optional Maltese VAT via IOSS
Because hwejjeg is a personal shopping service, your parcel is a personal import — Malta normally levies 18% VAT plus a MaltaPost handling fee on arrival. At checkout you can tick Pre-pay 18% Maltese VAT via IOSS and we'll declare and remit it on your behalf so the parcel clears customs untouched.
- · VAT is calculated as 18% of the basket's UK net price, converted to EUR at the fixed 1.19 rate.
- · Skip it if you'd rather take your chances with MaltaPost — the underlying retail price you pay is the same either way.
Our Personal-Shopper Fee
On top of the UK retail prices and shipping, we charge a single transparent fee for sourcing the items, consolidating them into one parcel, and dispatching to Malta. The formula is:
- · Minimum fee of €5 / £5 per order.
- · 10% of basket value up to 200, plus 5% on anything above 200 — whichever is higher than the minimum.
- · You always see the fee clearly broken out in the checkout summary before paying.
There are no hidden mark-ups on the items themselves — the price you see is what the retailer is charging in the UK, converted at 1 GBP = 1.19 EUR.
Tip: Bundle Heavier Items
Because shipping is weight-based, bundling items into one parcel typically works out cheaper than splitting them across separate orders.

If you skip that option, MaltaPost will collect the VAT and a small handling fee on your behalf when they deliver.
